Apple has finally released its new iPad Pro which ditches the home button in favor Face ID, gains a lot of power, and its bezels are much slimmer than previous generations. It is available in 11-inch or 12.9-inch configurations, starting at $799 and $999, respectively.

WhatsApp to start showing ads on its Status

The WhatsApp messaging service is said to start showing ads alongside its popular Status feature, according to Chris Daniels, WhatsApp Vice President. Speaking at an events in New Delhi, Chris Daniels said that the ads would be the service’s primary monetization mode for the company and would offer an opportunity for businesses to reach people”.

No timeline was given, but a report said the ads service would begin to showcase by 2019.

Earlier last year, the WhatsApp Status was launched as a kick out of the stories feature found in Instagram and Snapchat. Since then, the update has gone viral, even ruled over Snapchat usage. 

The feature allows you to add a couple of text, photos, and short videos to your profile, which also encrypted in the same way as your messages. 

The Status updates are visible to all your contacts up to 24 hours before they disappear.

Enquiries on how the WhatsApp messaging service would monetize itself have been ongoing since it decided to drop its subscription fee back in 2016. The company said, “You can still count on absolutely no ads interrupting your communication,” in adherence to the service’s original principles. But this sentiment was primarily pushed by the app’s co-founders, who left Facebook, Inc. within the past two years.

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is confirmed to support 5G

Later last week, Xiaomi showed off a render of its upcoming Mi Mix 3 flagship that revealed its notch-dodging slider mechanism, and now Xiaomi product management director Donovan Sung has followed up this announcement with a picture that shows another feature of this smartphone: 5G support.

The Mi Mix 3 is set to be launched in October, which makes it far earlier than any 5G networks that are going to be up and running. However, Sung says the company can’t wait for the official release of the 5G next year.

As for the people’s expectation from Xiaomi’s precise implementation of 5G, Sung Donovan cites download speed that is more than 10x faster than 4G network speeds, which is not much to go with given the huge variation in 4G technologies.

The photo shows the Mi Mix 3 using various bands at a test facility, with one LTE connection that could be an anchor band for the 5G connectivity. However, it does not really tell us a lot about the phone’s conceptual capabilities.

Many will depend on the kind of networks that operators actually use all over the world.

Although, this is the most notable device with the 5G support that has been announced to date. Huawei and LG have both announced plans to release 5G supported phones in the first half of next year.

Here is Sony's infographic that explain why Android updates can be slow

As Google released the latest Android version, Sony believes that its smartphone users will also want to update their phones to Android Pie. “We are working on it, and you will be able to get it by November for those that are using Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1, or XZ1 Compact,” - Sony.

Just to hint you about the updates, Sony released an infographic to teach you about phone updates. According to Sony, the updates will be very slow but it’s not their fault but the machine that is a new Android OS rollout. In other to avoid these, Sony plan on optimizing the OS for its hardware; add its own personal touches; test it internally; test it externally, make sure it meets certain standards; and ensure the devices actually work with carriers. These make it difficult for them, being a phone maker.

Though the released infographic is not accurate, to say. Updating a phone require a lot of work, but most Android device makers have infamously been awful about keeping phones current. The processes explained by Sony is a good move but it doesn’t give the company the right from failing to deliver timely updates or avoiding all but its most recent, high-end devices.
