Mobile phones has been banned in French Schools

The French Government has brought in a new law that forfeits the use of mobile phones in primary and junior schools in France.

This new law means they cannot use mobile phones from when they start school until they are around 15 years old. The ban also prohibits the use of Tablets, Smart Watches, computers and other Internet-connected devices as well.

This new measure isn’t France’s first attack into cellphone use. In 2010, the use of smartphones was prohibited during all teaching activity according to a report from CNN. The lawmakers earlier this year also banned texting in your car even when you’ve pulled over on the side of the road.

The French Government says it’s decided to bring in the new law to help stop pupils being distracted by phones during class.

It’s also hoped it will help kids make friends more easily and be more physically active at break time, as well as helping them to tackle online bullying.

However, not everyone in France is in favor of the ban. And some people have questioned how it will be enforced.

The French Government also says schools can decide how to implement the new rules. It’s recommended that all the students’ phones are stored in lockers during the day, or switch it off during the day.

The ban will be an exception for students with disabilities, or if the smartphones are needed for extracurricular activities.

However, French high schools will be allowed to decide whether they implement the ban in their classrooms.
